Information Architecture

GOAL: The goal of this project was to organize information from the City of Calgary policy on substance use into a brochure employers could hand out to their employees.

STRATEGY: I went through the City of Calgary policy and used the information that I felt would be most relevant for employees. Since it is a brochure, I just included and overview of the city’s substance use policy. I worked to categorize information from most important to least, then included what would be most useful for the brochures intended audience. I ensured the information under each subtitle was clear and directly related. I focused on chunking the chosen information into carefully selected categories and creating a visual hierarchy using different colours and typefaces; I did this to help users navigate the information presented in the brochure. I decided to leave out anything that was not immediately important to the user to avoid overloading the brochure with information.
