Information design focusses on the data itself and how data can be transformed into information and then presented in such a way that compels people to interact with it. It requires a process of displaying information drawn from the original data in a compelling and visually stimulating way. An information designer has the responsibility of promoting and presenting data in a way that is engaging as well as explanatory. The objective of an information designer is often to present information and persuade an audience to interact with it.
An information designer must cope with the complex ways information circulates and collect information from different outlets in order to create a self explanatory way for users to process certain information. It is important for an information designer to understand their audience, just because the data makes sense presented one way to some users does not make it the best option for the majority of users to understand.
